Text books often say, it takes millions of years for the big stalactites in caves to form. But they are lying to you. All over the world are stalactites growing very rapidly. For some the growth rates around 2.5 inches per year, not 2.5 in. per 1000 years.
Here are some examples...
There are 50 inch stalactites growing under the Lincoln memorial built in 1992.
There are 2 inch stalactites growing in a refrigeration shed in Pensacola, Florida built around 1926-1927.
There is a 40 year old building in Indian that is getting filled with flow stone.
