This subject is full of controversy, especially in American where tolerance is our highest virtue. To even suggest that there may be such a thing as absolute truth will bring backlash. It's important to remember that one way a christian expresses love is by being honest (1 John 3:18). If you saw someone standing on a edge of a cliff and they where oblivious to the danger you wouldn't consider whether or not they wanted to hear the danger they where in. Without hesitation love would compel you to warn them.
The Christian community has been guilty of singling out this particular group and leaves the impression that this "sin" is somehow worse. Well, the bible is clear on this subject, homosexuality is wrong, but so is lying, adultery, fornication, and many other sins. God loves homosexuals just as he loves anyone else, yet God has made it clear that those who practice such things will not enter Heaven. So often I have had people ask "Isn't God forgiving and loving"? To that I must answer most definitely YES! For those that are willing to repent and ask for mercy it says His mercy endures forever. But for those that are unwilling to turn from sin we must remember He is just and He hates sin (Psalms 5:5). So homosexuals that are unwilling to repent stand condemmed, just as the liar, adulterer, idolater, and so on.
-1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,, nor sodomites,
-Romans 1:26-27 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
-Leviticus 20:13 If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.
Common misconceptions:
-It's genetic.
-The bible was written for a different time and doesn't apply today. It's outdated.
-Homosexuality is fine as long as it's monogamous.
