  • Soul Harvest : Problems in the Church today : Pre Tribulation rapture theory : The Last day

    The Last Day.

Now it states the dead in Christ shall rise first.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

Knowing the dead must rise first before we are taken up, we must ask ourselves when are the dead raised? These verses show it to be at the last day (note last day is singular, it is not a reference to a period of time, but specifically one day). That is the last day, we cannot be taken up before this.

John 6:39-40 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

John 6:44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

What’s interesting here is we know the dead in Christ rise first (1 Thes. 4:16-17) and the first resurrection (the first time the dead could be resurrected) doesn’t take place until the tribulation is over and the thousand year reign begins.

Revelation 20:4-5 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. This clearly shows Christians who went through the Tribulation.
